Each year Bet Torah hosts local homeless for a week through the EmergencyShelter Partnership(ESP).
What is the Emergency Shelter partnership?
ESP is a nonprofit organization that provides short term emergency shelter from November to March through its coalition of 16 local congregations.
How does it work?
Anyone that is in need of a safe, warm place to sleep gathers at the Mt. Kisco police station by 9pm each night. They are met by the ESP bus and an overnight supervisor and transported to the host congregation. The host shelter provides a warm meal that evening and coffee and a light breakfast in the morning. A volunteer from the congregation also spends the night in addition to the overnight supervisor.
How can I help?
Volunteer to cook and serve a warm meal. Meals either need to be dairy and prepared in the dairy kitchen or a meat meal provided by Sammy’s. Donate food and supplies. Stay overnight( volunteers to stay overnight must be over 18).
