AJC Westchester/Fairfield Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast

Westchester/Fairfield Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast
"Opening Our Hearts and Our Minds"
Thursday, November 15
7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Manhattanville College, Purchase, New York
Do you feel it? The fear, the grief, and the horror our heavy hearts have had to hold witnessing recent acts of violence and hatred. We sense that something has changed. Our culture seems to be moving on a trajectory from bias to violence. These recent acts were clear attempts to silence the voices of “the other,” and they will not have the final word.
Each year, the Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast is a different kind of community event where your voice is heard! You will be inspired by the wonderful honorees and an exceptional keynote speaker (see below), but the power has always been when we come together to share our fears and dreams, our doubts and hopes, through facilitated table conversations. You will leave the Breakfast a different person and that is a small act of bravery in itself. So, join us as we stand together in solidarity. As we gather to hear one another’s stories and make room in our hearts and minds for “the other,” we will speak a word louder than hatred ever has. It’s time to be brave, together.
Please join as we honor those who reach out to understand other points of view:
* Rev. Dr. Franklyn Richardson, Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon
* Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom (Local Chapters)
* The "Faith and Eggs" Cable TV Duo of
      - Rabbi Jeffrey Sirkman (Larchmont Temple)
      - Rev. Dr. Bill Crawford (Larchmont Avenue Presbyterian Church)
Featuring a keynote address by Rev. Dr. Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook, former U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom.
Tickets are $16 on or before November 11th. $25 after.  Please consider purchasing a ticket for a student or another community member.
