What is Kadima?

Kadima is Conservative Judaism's youth group for 6th-8th graders. At Bet Torah, events are usually for 6th and 7th graders, since 8th graders are in TLC. Bet Torah Kadima events are open to all Jewish teens, not just Bet Torah congregants.

What is Emek?

Kadima and USY are the international youth group of Conservative Judaism. At Bet Torah, our division is Emek, which includes Putnam, Orange, Westchester, and Rockland County, as well as some of Connecticut. Our region is called METNY, which includes all of Emek, as well as the boroughs of New York City and Long Island.

What is MENTY?

The Metropolitan New York Region (METNY) of USCJ gives Jewish teens in our area the opportunity to engage in various Jewish and social activities while forming friendships that last a lifetime. METNY strives to inspire meaningful encounters with Judaism and the Jewish people. METNY USY offers middle and high school students the opportunity to engage in various Jewish and social activities while forming friendships that last a lifetime. Through a variety of programs throughout the year, METNY USY strives to inspire meaningful encounters with Judaism and the Jewish people. We believe that engagement, study, and action lead to personal fulfillment and growth. METNY USY aims to give teens opportunities to make significant contributions to their synagogues, communities, society, and the Jewish people. Thanks to the thriving Jewish community in the Metropolitan Area, METNY is divided into geographical divisions (Sub-Regions) to better serve each community's needs. The three divisions that comprise METNY are Long Island (Ruach Division), Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan (Sababa Division), and the Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Putnam county, and Greenwich, Stamford, and Norwalk, CT (Emek Division). METNY is part of USY's Branch 4. Our teens enjoy numerous conventions, a week-long summer encampment, dances, and special programs. In METNY USY there are many leadership opportunities that teens can take advantage of such as board positions, co-chairing events, and leading programs throughout the community. In addition, our teens participate in unforgettable summer programs across North America, Israel, and Europe, as well as the annual International Convention.
